One of my greatest joys in life is to share what I have learned with other people so they can love it as much as I do. One way to accomplish this for a lot of people at once is to write a book about it.

When I wrote Sewing for Dummies and Sewing for Dummies, Second Edition (sewing has been a passion of mine since I was 7 years old), the editors at Wiley Publishing asked me to include more information about home dec sewing. My family and I had just moved into a new house and I started a business centered around several clever and innovative home dec. products that I loved using in our home. I finished the book and kept on going with the new company. Before I knew it, I was totally immersed and wanted to know more about what people love (or feel is lacking) in their homes. So I became a Certified One Day Decorator.

When I added interior redesign services to my business, I was able to walk into any room and make it drop-dead gorgeous. I'd call my clients back home for the "reveal" and they literally cried for joy at the transformation -- just like you see on TV. How cool is that! For almost everyone, this was the first time they had a room that they really loved to live in... or that functioned they way they needed to work ... or "got the model home they've always wanted."

Then the best thing happened. Through my business I met Christine Rae (founder of the Certified Staging Professionals) and became a Certified Staging Professional. Once I learned about staging properties from Christine ...and I hesitate to even say this but ... it was magic. I got home from training and have been successfully staging properties ever since and loving it.

In the book we walk the home seller and real estate professional through the CSP three-step staging process. Not only does this help the seller to move on with their life, but it helps the agent get more money for the property and for their client, to boot! (And in my business, this keeps happening every week in the worst real estate market in over 20 years!) What's the CSP three-step process you ask? You'll just have to read the book to find out!

So back to my greatest joy in life .... to share what I love to know with other people. For me, there's just nothing like it and the fact they we're helping folks along the way is the icing on the cake.
